2019 Agenda

“I think the Sinclair Lewis Writers Conference in Sauk Centre is one of the best values going in the Midwest. It allows aspiring writers to plug in for a day with well-known authors and fellow book lovers. You’ll learn a lot, and it’s downright fun.” -Will Weaver

The conference is open to all interested writers. Each participant will be able to choose three workshops and a panel discussion to attend (one hour each), plus the keynote speech. Lunch will be served to those registering up to three days before the conference and will give participants an opportunity to chat with other writers and with the presenters.

  1. I have always wanted to learn more about writing. Is this a good event to attend to gain some insight on the craft? I haven’t anything written yet, but hope to learn from the presenters at this year’s conference.

  2. Sauk Centre author/artist Bill McDonald has written AND illustrated a book of humorous essays and short stories entitled “The Coasts of Minnesota!” Published by Polaris Publications.

Due to ill health, the author will not be able to attend the conference. But I will be there in his absence, with signed copies of the book for sale!

I will have a copy ready for YOU! While reading this book, you will laugh so hard that your socks will fall down! Guaranteed!

  3. This is a great conference! I have personally attended it in the past, and brought students. If anyone is interested in a summer writers’ retreat in either poetry or memoir, check out our website: https://northbeachwritersretreat.com/ It is in Park Rapids, MN at a resort on Potato Lake. Visiting writer Heid Erdrich will be featured in the poetry retreat, and Kao Kalia Yang will be the visiting writer for the memoir retreat. We still have availability!
